(Statement of basic beliefs/truth/principles/concepts about the interaction of Teacher, Learner/Student, Content, Process/Methodology)
The entire process of education is a means used by the Holy Spirit to bring the student to God, then into fellowship with God, and help the student become strong or mighty in the spirit, assist the student in developing the mind of Christ, train the student in Christ-likeness, teach the student to respond like God, acquire skills needed to function in society and help the student demonstrate Christ-like character qualities in order that he/she can fulfill God’s total purpose for his/her life personally and vocationally. Madison Christian School, along with local evangelical churches, partner with parents to fulfill God’s command to scripturally train their children to love God and place Him first in their lives. (Deuteronomy 6:7-8, Proverbs 22:6)
Four dynamics from John 17:13 form a model for Christian Education.
But now I (the Teacher) come to you (the Learner), and these things (the Content) I speak (the Processes) in the world, that they may have My joy fulfilled in themselves
1. the Teacher – “I come…”
MCS will employ and develop mature Christian faculty and staff who minister through the power of the Holy Spirit to the MCS students, families, and community by word and action.
The student interacts with and is taught by competent “teacher models” that are empowered by the Holy Spirit, to guide and nurture students through instruction, admonition and personal example. (Luke 2:52, Colossians 1:28, Proverbs 1:7)
2. the Content – “…these things”
MCS will provide a Christ centered educational program which is based on the authoritative Word of God.
God’s Word is the final authority in all things pertaining to life and doctrine and is the central focus. The student is taught the Bible so he/she may understand God as well as that all content is an outgrowth of God’s Word. (Colossians 1:16, John 1:3)
Since God created and sustains all things through His Son, Jesus Christ, the universe and all life are dynamically related to God and have the purpose of glorifying Him.
Education is the result of a God-centered view of truth. The student is taught to interpret and test all knowledge and action through God’s Word, resulting in a biblically based view of God and the world.
3. the Learner – “…to you”
MCS will lead students to God and equip them to evangelize and disciple others.
Each student is created in God’s image with the unique capacity to know God and respond to God personally. MCS educates each student as an individual with his/her own unique abilities, personality, and needs.
4. the Processes/Methodologies/Strategies- “ I speak”
MCS will use appropriate and relevant processes, methods, strategies and medias to help the learner learn.
Service to others, inside and outside the classroom contributes to the development of each student’s talents and abilities. (1 Corinthinians 12)
Excellence in the quality of education offered to children brings glory to God. (Philippians 1:9-11)
The student learns to how to live with and serve others in the home, in the church and in a changing society. (Colossians 1:16, 17; John 1:3)
